Success for Sponsored Driver Zac Champney

Double Championship Wins for Zac Champney

Zac Champney

WSP Engineering backed racing driver, Zac Champney concluded his remarkable 2023 season in triumphant fashion, clinching dual championships in the fiercely contested WMKC (Whilton Mill Kart Club) and the prestigious TVKC (PFI Club Championship).

These championship wins demonstrate the professionalism, hard work and outright speed that ten-year-old racing driver Zac Champney has displayed this year.

The 2023 season saw Zac move to the Iame Waterswift Inter after spending two years in Honda Cadets, posing a significant challenge for Zac to get to grips with a kart with stickier tyres and more power, capable of achieving speeds of up to 60mph!

Karting is an expensive sport, and extra sponsorship was required for Zac to mount a competitive campaign on both the WMKC (Whilton Mill Karting Club) and the TVKC (PFI Club Championship) championships for the 2023 season.

WSP Engineering came on board as a sponsor for Zac for the 2023 season, providing the necessary funds and support to compete at the sharp end of the grid.

Throughout the 2023 season, Zac racked up an impressive nine podium finishes, including four victories. Notably, one of these wins came in the highly coveted WM Plate event at Whilton Mill, granting Zac the privilege of using “WM” as his race number for the following season.

Looking ahead to 2024, Zac has plans to defend both the WMKC and TVKC championships, with aspirations to compete in the esteemed British Kart Championship if the required sponsorship can be achieved.

Dave Pickup, Director for WSP Engineering, said, “Zac and his team should be incredibly proud of everything they have achieved this year. Zac has not only displayed great speed but also a high level of professionalism both on and off the track.

Matthew Champney, Zac’s father, said, “We would like to express our utmost gratitude for the support WSP Engineering has provided us this year. It is great to see local businesses support young athletes, and the input on the livery has seen us have the best-looking kart on the grid!
