Why PUWER and Machinery Safety are important

PUWER is the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 2008. These legal regulations ensure employers have responsibility for providing machinery and equipment that is safe and fit for purpose.

These regulations are a legal requirement that ensures employers are providing a safe workplace for their employees, including the machinery and equipment they operate.

In 2021/2022, there were 15 workplace fatalities due to contact with moving machinery (source HSE statistics 21/22). Machinery and equipment pose one of the greatest threats to safety in the workplace.

In addition to the risk of unnecessary injuries and fatalities are the severe fines and legal complications businesses can face by failing to follow PUWER regulations.

Navigating PUWER regulations can be a complicated and complex process. However, our expert engineering consultancy team and unique approach empower our clients to remove these barriers and confidently manage PUWER regulations.

Our approach enables us to undertake large PUWER projects over multiple locations. Through our unique digital process, our clients can review the progress of PUWER assessments and manage and monitor the associated actions, all from one place.

We are also on hand to support the resolution of any PUWER assessment actions, from sourcing and installing new machinery and equipment to carrying out training and implementing action plans.

Choosing WSP Engineering as your PUWER and Machinery Safety partner will support your business to be safe and legal. In addition, our expertise and unique approach will save your team time and give them the confidence they need to manage machinery safety in the workplace.
